Rule of Law

I am shocked and surprised that the police at Pune have gone and provided Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt the Y-category security during their stay in India for the purpose of shooting a film for a Hollywood production following death threats by the Al-Qaeda. It is very clear that Pitt’s production team from Hollywood chose the location near to the city of Pune because it was closest to the one in Pakistan, wherein Jolie plays the role of the widow of slain Wall Street Journal scribe late Daniel Pearl in the film A Mighty Heart.

The Police and the Home Department of Maharashtra government should be well aware that the above production team was not invited by the Government of India to do the film in India, particularly in Pune. It is very commendable for the police in Pune to give them protection against media harassment but nothing more than this is warranted at the moment.

The Brangelina couple has shown absolutely no respect for the law of the land when they forced the helicopter to land in the grounds of the hotel they were staying in Rajasthan. Would the US government ever allowed such blatant attitude if our Indian actors had done the same in their soil? All tourists are welcomed to India and they are our honoured guests but they also have to respect the law of the land and not make mockery of the same.
